Le Goût du Pays: A delectable discovery

Le Goût du Pays is a small farm in Duhamel-Ouest, in the Témiscamingue region, that mills artisanal stone-ground flour from locally grown grains. The farmers also grow a wide variety of organic produce, and practice wild harvesting, foraging the edible treasures of the surrounding forests and meadows. The farm shop, set in a postcard-perfect panoramic spot, sells both fresh produce and prepared delicacies, including their famous “Glaçons du Pays,” birch water popsicles flavored with forest syrups. Visitors can also sit down for a reviving cup of herbal tea, some wild chocolate, and other local specialties.

Three lovely lakeside cottages for summer

This summer, three new lakeside accommodations will delight visitors who love being surrounded by nature. Villa Devi on the shores of Lac Preissac, near Amos, boasts impressive natural light, a spa, a therapeutic sauna area, and direct lake access – perfect for water sports and swimming. The nearby Chalet la Pointe à Tibi offers expansive wooded grounds, a private dock, and an outdoor fire pit for those magical long summer nights. Both cottages come with gorgeous sunsets on the islands across the lake.

Near Rouyn-Noranda, Chalets Kanasuta give guests a chance to combine relaxation and water activities, including canoeing and kayaking. And the nearby Opasatica trails are wonderful hiking spots.

Maison Dumulon becomes the Rouyn-Noranda museum of history

The Corporation de La maison Dumulon has rebranded as the Musée d’histoire de Rouyn-Noranda (Rouyn-Noranda museum of history) to better reflect its mission and the role it plays in the region. As the city’s sole history museum, it operates two sites: the Magasin général Dumulon (a general store) and St. George’s Russian Orthodox Church. With deep roots in 20th-century history, the museum promotes local heritage through exhibitions and educational activities that build bridges between past and present.

One exciting addition is Boomtown, an ambulatory theatre performance coproduced with Productions Quelque Part that depicts the amalgamation of Rouyn and Noranda through a collection of poetic and musical stories. Guided by history buff Guiguide, the audience strolls along with a troupe of ten performers for nearly two hours. The show will run from July 15 to 26, for a total of 14 performances.

Anisipi route discovery package

The Anisipi water discovery tour is a sweeping initiative celebrating the ancestral presence of the Anicinabek people and their historical contribution to the region, with special attention to water preservation and the precious waters of the eskers in the region. Anisipi is the Anicinabe word meaning “pure water that we drink.”

The tour combines elements of the arts, technology, architecture, heritage, history, and natural resources, with many diverse experiences for visitors across the Amos-Harricana territory, including three spectacular multimedia installations by Moment Factory.

And a new immersive package coming this summer that gives visitors admission to all three sites – the Well, the Tipi, and the Refuge – all in one fun-filled day, transportation and lunch included.
