Big changes coming to Saintlo Montréal

Saintlo Montréal has planned a series of improvements to make the hostel even more inviting.
Working together with a design firm, the team is embarking on a major transformation that entails completely redesigning common areas while giving private rooms a refresh. The goal is to create an even warmer, more aesthetically pleasing space in response to the evolving needs and tastes of its clientele.
Of special note: a mural created by a talented local artist will immerse guests in Montréal’s creative energy and set the tone for their stay.
Another project highlight is a new daytime café that will give guests a friendly space to work, meet up, or simply take a break. The bistro menu will be rich in options, including many healthy choices.
This revamp will position Saintlo Montréal as a new generation hostel where design and comfort combine to create a lively space for gathering and local experiences, with everything visitors need for a stay steeped in human connection.

A summer program designed to bring people together

Summer is a high point for the Saintlo team, as each hostel rolls out programming and activities that reflect its identity and community spirit.
At Saintlo Montréal, the experience designer organizes one or two daily activities for guests to explore the city like a local. Picture a gourmet stroll through the Mile End district, a microbrewery tour, a community dinner, or other fun options.
At the Sea Shack on the Gaspé Peninsula, the season will kick off with the official launch of the musical programming on April 16, with guest reservations – an eagerly awaited moment every year – opening on April 24 at 9 a.m.
At Griffon Aventure, also on the Gaspé Peninsula, the teams are already planning great outdoor activities including canyoning and boating excursions, which let visitors unwind and feast their senses on the dazzling natural surroundings, season after season.

An environmentally conscious group to foster sustainability

This summer, the team is planning concerted actions to ensure that every decision they make contributes to offering guests a more responsible stay. Saintlo Montréal will begin calculating its carbon footprint as a compass to guide future decisions. The hostel also wants to reduce overconsumption by gradually switching to leasing essential equipment, and choosing bulk food suppliers as a way to reduce packaging.
The team will also strengthen its sustainable approach by adapting programming to offer activities that promote human interaction and really getting to know the city while maximizing the positive impact of every outing and each partner. To support this initiative, the Saintlo head office recently added a sustainable development manager, whose brief is to help the organization make meaningful progress on its commitment to sustainability and community.
And as the proud holder of a newly minted certificate of excellence in eco-responsibility, Auberge Griffon Aventure is inspiring the entire Saintlo network to pursue the transition to sustainable practices in earnest and with determination.

The Saintlo foundation’s Travel Assistance program

In 2026, the Saintlo Foundation launched Travel Assistance, a new program for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Four $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to Grade 5 and 6 classes in Québec schools located in deserving communities. The grants can be used by youth and their teachers to take educational field trips in Québec or Ontario.
The proven benefits of youth travel include enhanced self-confidence and improved social interactions. These experiences also encourage groups of students to learn about new environments and visit places that will leave a lasting impression.
The public can contribute to this initiative by booking a stay at one of the Saintlo team’s hostels. For every night spent there, one dollar is donated to the Foundation to support this program. In this way, every stay at a Saintlo hostel makes a concrete contribution to making travel more accessible to young people.
